Week of: May 3, 2010

Grade 7: This is week 10 in Term 3. Students should be practising twice this week outside of class. This week we will review all of the Silver level concepts from our Band Olympics which include key signatures, accidentals (flats, sharps, naturals) in the measures of a piece, and multiple measures of rests. Students will have a quiz on these concepts next week.
Class time will be provided for students to complete Band Olympics performances and complete their Silver Level composing which should be handed in at the end of the second class of the week. There will be a number of rehearsals for our Junior Band in preparation for our concert on Thursday, May 6, at 7:00.
Homework: Complete Silver Level songs, composing and study for the quiz on Bronze and Silver concepts for next week.

Grade 8:
This is week 10 in Term 3. Students should be practising twice this week outside of class. During the first class of the week, students will be performing "In Quest of Uluru" for a final assessment. We will begin our unit on STOMP! by watching the video of the music routines from the Broadway Show. In this unit we will be using unusual "instruments" to create movement and drumming routines similar to the performances created by the original cast.
Homework: Practise and study for the final "Uluru" assessment.
