Grade 7:
This week we will review rhythm (patterns of long and short notes/rests) and pitch (highness or lowness of a musical tone). By the end of the week students should know from memory, the names of the notes in the treble and bass clefs. The bass clef worksheet is due for the second class of the week. There will be a quiz on the rhythm and pitch this week.
Students will receive their first printed music sheet, and will learn to play a three pitches. All students should be able to play "Looking Up", "Looking Down", and "Try for Three" on Staff Song Sheet #1.

Grade 8:
Many grade 8 students will be attending the Toronto Symphony concert on Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Students should know how to play all measures of "Crusade" accurately, focusing now on dynamics and expression. Students will identify and perform the notes of the minor scale in preparation for composing a scary melody for a Halloween character. The creative process will be highlighted.
